My lesson for this map would be about jobs. I have labeled a few places on the map where different kind of jobs work at different locations. If you click on the individual label, a picture that represents the job will be shown. I would teach or show pictures of the proffession and they have to find where they work. You can add as many locations as possible and also the students can find where their parents work as well. Not only can this lesson be use for first graders, you can make it for higher grades. You can measure the distance from each studennt's home to see how far each location is and also how long it will take to commute to work by car or other type of public transportation. You can also create statistic to see where most of the jobs are located. This lesson can be fun and interactive. Children can learn a lot about maps and directions.
